]]>A hot tub is a luxury that many homeowners enjoy. Hot water jets, soothing bubbles, and the ability to relax in a private space are just some of the reasons why people love having a hot tub. However, because these types of tubs use so much energy and cost so much money to run, they can be costly investments over time no matter how enjoyable they may be. In this blog post we will explore ways for you to keep your hot tub lasting longer while also being more affordable!
A balanced PH level can really help to extend the life of your hot tub, just like with a swimming pool. If you have too much acid in your water it can corrode metal parts and damage surrounding areas. On the other hand, if there is not enough acid then calcium deposits will build up on surfaces causing them to look corroded.
Hot tub covers are a great way to keep your hot tub energy costs down as well as make sure you don't lose any of the heat from your water. In addition, they help protect children and pets from falling into the water accidentally. Lastly it helps keep the water clean from debris keeping your filters free from leaves and dirt.
Keeping your water clear can also help you save money on energy costs. When the water is cloudy it's harder to heat, and any debris in there will cause problems for the filtration system. If your tub is working harder than that, it not only can make the cost to operate go up and puts pressure on the critical parts of the tub that can wear out quicker over time.
Keeping your filters clean and replacing them regularly is essential to ensure the water stays clear and hot. Replacing these parts as needed will also help prolong their lifespan, leading to a more cost effective solution for you!
Bonus Tip - Replace Water Often as well (Safety topic- drain hose placement)
If your tub is not running like it should follow this quick guide to see if you need to take action. If you discover you need parts to replace something on your tub, shop for parts here.

If your grill won’t light, this could mean that there are a number of different things wrong with your grill. This could mean you have a loose wire connecting, a bad battery, corrosion on the igniter tip, or a damaged igniter element. You could also try lighting your grill with a match and the gas turned on. If it still won’t light, check to see if you have enough gas or if your hose system is damaged.
If your gas or BBQ grill is struggling to produce a large flame, cooking food may take too long or simply be impossible. If a low flame is your grill’s problem, you may have a faulty regulator, blocked orifices, or a tripped OPD device. For everything you need to fix this problem, contact us today!
Smoke is a natural part of the grilling process. While grilling food, you should see white smoke rising from your grill, but if you see black, it most likely means your grill needs to be cleaned. A build-up of grease and fats in your grill will result in a very smoky process. Check out our shop for access to our huge variety of grill cleaning products.
Low temperature is often caused by a small flame as alluded to earlier, but can also be caused by uneven flames that distribute heat sporadically throughout the gas grill. If you are struggling to get the temperature up in your grill, check your regulator, OPD sensor, and your propane attachment for leaks. You may also require a new burner for your grill.

Build outdoor furniture
Building diy outdoor furniture may be an easy diy project, but it can also come with its own set of challenges. One challenge that you might experience is cutting the wood incorrectly and having to start over again. Quick tip - You should always cut diagonally across the wood to avoid splitting it. This will ensure a cleaner and straighter finish and make your build go a-lot smoother.
Fire up the fireplace (no gas leaks, clean chimney for wood)
If you are like many diy-ers and prefer a wood burning fireplace, then it is important to make sure that the chimney has been cleaned for safety reasons. If not, this could result in carbon monoxide poisoning or an open flame fire hazard which can be very dangerous. Quick tip - You should always have your fireplace checked by a professional so reach out to us at DIY parts to help make sure your project is a success.
Check fountain pumps are In working order
Working diy water fountain pumps can be a diy project on their own, but they also come with some common issues. One of these is that the pump may not be working at all and needs to be replaced or fixed. Quick tip - If you have checked your electrical wiring and there are no loose connections then it might need replacing.
Keep critters out of our barbecue grill
If you are diy-ing your own outdoor barbecue grill then it may not be as easy to keep the critters out of it. One way that this could be an issue is if they eat through the wiring and short circuit or start a fire inside your diy cooker. Quick tip - You should make sure that your diy grill is enclosed in some way so the critters cannot get to it. If this still doesn't work then try using a hot sauce based spray which will keep them away from your diy cooker.

Meta: A guide on how to get ready for the new school year now.
The looming of the new school year in just over a month means the end to many things, from late mornings and late nights to pajama Mondays to Netflix binges and summer. However, it is also the beginning of many things, from new stationery packs – always the most fun thing in the world is to pick out which superhero or cartoon character will be gracing your pencil case, or the purchasing of new clothes and finally getting to meet new teachers.
Stationery
The endless lists are supplied every year, and while for some grades an infamous plethora of art supplies are prerequisite – hello kindergarten, other grades are more in line with the ten thousand and one textbooks and a couple pens to see you through the year, thank goodness for high school.
Whatever phase your child is currently in, a good idea would be to make a day out of the experience of shopping for his supplies, to eliminate the angst surrounding the trip or if your school has the option, then simply order the pack from them and they may even deliver it to his class on his first day.
However, if you order the kit, your child is unlikely to get a Batman, Minion or Barbie pencil case, as it is normally split into two generic options in solid colors for boys and girls. Nothing too exciting, but will save you from the day long outing to the mall, with a child who ultimately wants to stop halfway through and eat or, in worst case scenario, wants to go home.
Uniform
Now while all schools in the US may not require uniforms to be worn, most schools have some form of a dress code, therefore it would be wise to acquaint yourself and your child with the guidelines. Many schools advocate for modesty within skirt length, leggings that are not sheer, some do not allow crop tops, many prohibit tank tops, muscle tanks, sleeveless tops and dresses.
Other possibly disallowed clothing items or accessories include, body piercings, t-shirts with slogans that could promote hate speech, violence or antagonize others, no shirts that are too open within the chest area, no exposing of one’s underwear, no heels or other shoes that may prevent a student from being able to safely reach an exit in an emergency. The list is extensive, so it is a good idea to find out just what kind of clothes you should not be allowing your child to wear to school, no matter how on trend it is.
New teachers
Teaching is a highly underrated profession; however a great teacher can help your child move mountains. Teachers enable the underdogs to achieve their goals, they transform boring and often monotonous topics into new and extraordinary lessons, after all who doesn’t remember how much more exciting it was to learn about photosynthesis when the teacher unveiled her amazing class activity to help us understand the work and it worked a whole lot more than it would have had we been just been given the textbook and told to read.
Teachers have many complex abilities from aiding people to reveal hidden talents, to impressing life skills upon students, to fostering a life-long interest and passion for learning. Hence why you really should make an effort on parent-teacher night, this person is crafting the minds of the future.
